Today I will be reviewing Brooklyn Bedding’s Bloom Hybrid mattress, an eco-friendly option that includes a layer of latex and coils to provide a specific type of support for sleepers. This mattress comes in three different firmness options — soft, medium, and firm — and for this review, we’ll be specifically curling up into the “medium feel” bed.

I’ve done reviews on Brooklyn Bedding’s other mattresses, so make sure to check out the Signature, Bowery, and Aurora mattress reviews too!

Brand Snapshot
Brooklyn Bedding is an American-made, bed-in-a-box mattress company. According to its founder John Merwin (who we interviewed!), the team’s number one goal is to “deliver a luxury sleep experience at an affordable price.”

Despite the name Brooklyn in its title, Brooklyn Bedding custom crafts each mattress in its Phoenix, Arizona factory, which is then directly shipped to the consumer. Fun fact: Brooklyn is named after John’s daughter. Another unique feature is the company owns every aspect of production, a term otherwise known as end-to-end manufacturing. This allows Brooklyn Bedding to control quality, materials, and cost.

That’s all for now, to learn more you’ll have to watch or read the full review!

I think I’m in love with this Bloom Mattress!!! Love the 3″ Talalay Latex!!! That cover is really nice too!!! They really packed everything into this one!!! LOVE it!!! A bit more $$$ for my pocketbook, but maybe it would be worth the extra investment. Thanks for the GREAT review!!!

You mention one concern in your review, a quick transition from latex layer to the support layer, how concerned should I be as a 215 lb, 6 ft 2 side sprinter (half side half stomach) sleeper? The support should be good but what about pressure relief? Do you have any additional mattress recommendations for combo sleepers?

Amanda Stosz says:

I bought this mattress in soft firmness because I’m mainly a side sleeper, sometimes back, and because I was able to try the soft Signature Hybrid in person at the NYC store and found that it gave pretty good support and was told the Bloom would be slightly firmer. I have found, however, that the latex is significantly softer. I sink in a lot, not so much cradled like with memory foam, it’s more like a pit form arounds you, and it feels like I’m in a hammock in terms of my spine alignment. We otherwise really love the matress, we love the cover, we love that the bed actually smells great, we love everything else about it other than that we sink too much and aren’t getting any hip and lumbar support. Do you think if we exchange it for the medium we’d just end up having the same problem with feeling like a hammock? I’m sure the soft top comfort layer is mostly to blame for the lack of support, but really not sure how much the springs are factoring in (last mattress was latex with a foam topper) and if ultimately we might need zoned springs for extra support in the middle or just go back to an all foam mattress.

Robert Sanchez says:

Hello I’m comparing these two brands, king size luxury firm.

With coupon Dreamcloud comes up a bit cheaper which is a factor.

My wife is 5’8” 150 pounds and sleeps on her stomach. She has so recurring hip pain that flares up occasionally.

I am 6’5” 290 pounds and sleep mostly on my side. I have some lower back pain that pops up occasionally.

Which should we get.

I absolutely love this mattress!
