If you’re looking to snag an eco-friendly mattress for your bedroom, you might want to consider the Botanical Bliss mattress from PlushBeds. Built with organic latex, this bed aims to be as good for your sleep hygiene as it is for the environment.

But just how well does it live up to this mission? That’s what I’m here to find out, by putting it through a series of rigorous tests to figure out its feel, how it sleeps and whether or not it could be the mattress of your dreams.

CONSTRUCTION

The Botanical Bliss is built with three 3” layers of organic Dunlop Latex. Unlike Talalay Latex, which often has a light and airy feel, Dunlop is dense and makes for a firmer structure. Here, each of the three Dunlop sections is categorized as either Soft, Medium or Firm, and can be arranged in whatever order best suits the sleeper.

According to PlushBeds, there are a total of six different firmnesses for each mattress, with a split firmness option available for King and Cal King sizes. Worried you won’t be able to figure out how to configure the layers to your liking? No sweat! The brand offers a series of graphics on its website detailing all the various ways to orient the latex sections. Plus, if you’re still not satisfied with the feel, PlushBeds is happy to throw in an additional Firm layer of latex for more support.

Different layer arrangements for adjustable firmness of the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss
For the purpose of my review, I’ll be looking at the Botanical Bliss in the “Soft” orientation, which has the Soft layer on top, the Medium layer in the middle and the Firm section as the base.

But enough talk! Let’s dive into this plush latex mattress and see what’s going on inside.

Cover – Made with organic cotton and wool, the cover is soft and provides the sleeper with some satisfying comfort.

Latex Layers – As I mentioned up top, the next three sections are comprised of 100% all-natural Dunlop Latex. This material is dense and has a quick response to pressure, creating a bed that’s incredibly bouncy. Compared to memory foam, latex doesn’t feature much if any contouring, so you’re not likely to feel stuck in the mattress. Another thing you’re likely to notice with latex is that it sleeps cool, so could be a fantastic option for those of you who tend to sleep hot at night.

As far as the feel in this specific configuration is concerned, placing the Soft layer up top allows for some initial deep sinkage into the bed, which is buffered slightly by the Medium latex section as the sleeper transitions into the Firm base below.

Please leave a note below with some information about yourself and some of your sleep preferences if you’re interested in a personal recommendation or have any questions I didn’t answer during the review.

How would you compare this to the Brentwood Home Cedar?

Thanks for all your in depth reviews. I have a Saatva lux firm and it is a well-made mattress for sure! I love the look, the ability to get in and out easily, sleep cool, the side support…but the most important thing which is sleep is not the best. I wake up throughout the night moslty on my back with a sour back or on my side I wake with a sore hip. I am a 48 yr old female, I weigh 127 and 5’4. I have Charcot Marie Tooth (Cmt), Three benign nodules on my back. T10, T3 and ? I am in remission from matestatic ovarian cancer so blah, blah, blah, a pretty frail body. I have always owned an old school interspring mattress with
a pillow top. I may like latex or memory foam but never slept on one. I just want a bed I don’t wake up in discomfort. I am a combo sleeper but mostly find myself faling asleep on my back and waking up on my back. But do sleep on my side through the night) I wish the Saatva Lux was working out…they sent me a topper and it helped a litte but soon started waking up with a sore back and hip again. Was looking at Zotto but the density may me too high for my weight if I am understanding that correctly? I guess I like medium feel bed and definitely that sleeps COOL! BUT this Saatva lux firm is I guess too firm? Almost a numbing feeling too. Is the firmness causing the pain and that numbing in my extremities? Maybe I would like a softer memory feel mattress mattress like a Loom and Leaf or Zotto etc? I spend A LOT of time in bed unfortunately. I feel horrible that the company will lose money if I send this mattress back. How do these company’s afford these return policy’s? Anyway, any help choosing a mattress would be awesome! Also, what do you like of Purple for me? Am I too light? b
