IKEA EKTORP REVIEW – WHITE SLIPCOVERED SOFA WITH SIX KIDS

Watch the full video for little tips and comments!

We purchased our Ikea Ektorp in Feb 2017. I spent months searching and reading reviews with very few videos of it to see beyond a picture. Our IKEA is an hour away so going just to test it out with six kids wasn’t an option. I’m hands down in love and prove that you can have a light color/white sofa with kids!!

Pros –
slipcovered which means you can wash it people!
cheap
different color slipcovers so you can change it up without spending much money
smaller scale so it can fit many different ways in a room
not very deep so a shortie like me fits it
back cushions are not attached so it wears well by flipping them
off the ground enough for storage underneath

Cons –
bottom cushions are not reversible but the covers are
washing the slipcovers isn’t a quick process
its firm…. very firm!!
you can’t purchase a replacement cushion without buying a whole new sofa
its heavy!!!!
its not very deep so it wouldn’t fit a larger person very well

PICK UP….. we searched everywhere to see if this would fit in our vehicle but couldn’t find much info. We were able to fit this, the matching chair and ottoman in our Town and Country Mini Van. We left one seat in for our baby to ride in but removed the others/folded them down. We did have to take everything out of the boxes and fit like a puzzle but it worked.

Ah the laws of entropy are forever “fucking” with us aren’t they? So easy to take something apart and yet so much harder to put it back in order lol. Thanks for the walk through on how this works. I’m looking at purchasing this same sofa, all be it in dark grey, but I’m heartened that it’s so easy to remove the slipcover and wash it. our current sofa only has covers on the pillows and so I can only wash those when the sofa gets gross. I am really looking forward to being able to wash the whole thing.

One question. Do you know how long the cover takes to dry fully once it’s on the sofa?
