Hi, Fan collector, it had been more than a year since you purchased the Hesseng mattress and you mentioned you will do another round of review after 1 yrs of usage… So when will be the next episode???
Jenny commented the mattress is HOT to sleep on… wondering you face such issue or not… Or you actually facing other issues too like the area you used to sleep on start to get dips in?
Hope so see your review soon. Thanks.

Hi, do you use mattress topper for this mattress? On most other reviews it’s said that mattress is too hard And uncomfortable to sleep on. What are you thoughts regarding comfort of the mattress..

Alex Chekunkov says:

Hey, so what’s your experience with it after 2 months? I’m looking for a mattress, this one is the most expensive in IKEA but it costs 200 EUR less than mattresses from a competitor store… My only concern is quality – I don’t want to spend 600 EUR and realise it was a waste of money after 2-6 months using it.

Hi, Fan collector. Its nearly a year since you purchased your Hesseng Mattress and I was hoping you could give an update on its performance? I am hoping to get a new firm mattress myself this week as I have back problems. I have been saving for this mattress since reading its top/best review in “Which” consumer magazine over a year ago. I stupidly bought a Memory foam with my new bed, but it has been the worst mattress ever!
I really would appreciate an opinion from someone who has used it for a good period of time, as my pension savings will soon be depleted with winter bills due in, LQTM.

jenny taylor says:

WARNING!… I bought this very mattress from a UK store. Same spec, but in the medium tension. Very solid, as stated, and can’t fault the quality of support from the spring-box.

HOWEVER…. the latex they’ve used in this mattress is mostly SYNTHETIC – not natural – which makes it VERY HOT to sleep on. Kept waking up sweating and feeling rough, so reluctantly, had to give up on it very early on, sadly, for this reason alone.

A great old-fashioned style, well built bed, but hotter than the sun to sleep on (even in winter), in my experience. Was going to exchange it for a different model, but most of their high end ones incorporate that horrid synthetic latex element in the top layer, i.e. the sleeping surface. So the addition of a cooler topper does little to detract from the overwhelming heat that builds up in the night. The top layer just ruins a potentially great mattress. it’s a ‘no-turn’ mattress, so the other side is completely unpadded, but I’m considering trying to sleep on it aided by a mattress topper for makeshift padding.

I felt it was mis-sold to me, as it’s advertised as having ‘natural’ components. Something of an expensive mistake, and now I can’t afford to replace it, so I’m back on my old sagging mattress!

Usually a stalwart Ikea fan, but this one gets the thumbs-down from me, I’m afraid.

I’m thinking of getting this mattress. How is it one year later? 🙂

Any addition to your review after 6 months of using it?
